The Datalogic PowerScan PBT9501 is a rugged cordless 2D area imager from Datalogic's PowerScan 9500 series. Its Bluetooth® 3.0 Class 1 radio reaches more than 100 m in open air and links the scanner to a PowerScan 9500-series Bluetooth base station – up to 7 scanners can share one base – or directly to a Bluetooth-enabled PC, tablet or mobile computer (HID or SPP profile). A removable 3350 mAh Li-ion battery lasts for 60,000+ reads per charge and can be swapped in about 3 seconds, the housing is sealed to IP65 and withstands 50 drops from 2.0 m onto concrete, and the scanner comes with a 3-year Datalogic warranty. This version, PBT9501-DPMRBK20EU, has Direct Part Marking (DPM) optics – high-density optics with special illumination for reading laser-etched, dot-peened, chemically etched and inkjet-printed codes directly on metal and plastic parts, as well as small printed labels.
It is supplied as a complete RS-232 kit with the BC9030-BT base station/charger, a 1.8 m RS-232 cable and a power supply with EU power cord – ready to connect and scan.

💡 Getting started: connect the base to your PC or host and to the power supply, charge the scanner in the base and pair it with the base as described in the quick reference guide. Alternatively, the scanner can be paired directly with a Bluetooth-enabled PC, tablet or mobile computer (HID or SPP profile).
💡 The base doubles as the charging cradle. For a belt holster, a desk/wall holder, a hands-free stand or a spare battery for multi-shift work, add the PC-P090 holster, HLD-P080 holder, STD-P090 stand or a spare RBP-PM91 battery.
Key Features
- Bluetooth® 3.0 wireless technology – Class 1 radio with a range of more than 100 m in open air to the base station; up to 7 scanners can work with one base (piconet), and the scanner can also pair directly with a Bluetooth PC, tablet or mobile computer using the HID or SPP profile, with data encryption and scanner authentication.
- Made for direct part marking – reads laser-etched, chemically etched and inkjet-printed codes as well as dot-peened Data Matrix codes directly on metal, plastic and other shiny or matte surfaces.
- High-density optics – an 864 × 544 sensor resolves 1D codes down to 2.5 mil and 2D codes down to 4 mil; DPM codes are read from contact to about 4–5 cm and printed codes up to about 15 cm.
- Omnidirectional reading – reads 1D, stacked, 2D and postal codes in any orientation and can also capture images (BMP, JPEG, TIFF).
- Hot-swappable battery for multi-shift work – the removable 3350 mAh Li-ion battery lasts for 60,000+ reads per charge and is replaced in about 3 seconds; it charges in the base in about 4.5 hours with the external power supply, and spare batteries plus a 4-slot charger keep 24-hour operations running.
- Built for the shop floor – IP65 sealing against dust and water jets, 50 drops from 2.0 m onto concrete and an operating range of −20 °C to 50 °C.
- Clear good-read feedback – Datalogic 3GL™ (Three Green Lights), the Green Spot projected onto the code, dual good-read LEDs and a loud, adjustable beeper confirm every read.
- Motionix™ motion sensing – the scanner detects the operator's movements and automatically switches to the right scanning mode.
- Soft white illumination – the soft-pulsed white light produces fewer flashes and is gentle on the eyes during scan-intensive work.
- Flexible base stations – the kits include the BC9030-BT base/charger (RS-232, USB and keyboard wedge); the BC9130-BT adds a spare-battery charging slot and the BC9180-BT connects to standard or industrial Ethernet (EtherNet/IP, Modbus). Free Datalogic Aladdin configuration tool, OPOS/JavaPOS utilities and EASEOFCARE service plans.
Ideal Applications
- Direct part marking – laser-etched, dot-peened and inkjet-printed codes on metal and plastic parts in automotive, electronics and metalworking
- Manufacturing shop floor – work-in-process and sub-assembly tracking
- Component tracking and parts traceability
- Quality control and line inventory control
- Time and cost analysis, machine replenishment and configuration
- Forklifts, large warehouses and yards – cordless scanning up to 100 m from the base, or paired directly with a vehicle-mount computer or tablet via Bluetooth

How to read the part numbers: DPM marks the Direct Part Marking version; WH-RT is the white Retail version that also reads Digimarc codes; RB means the removable battery is included. Versions ending in K10 are USB kits and versions ending in K20 RS-232 kits, both with the BC9030-BT base station and a power supply; the final EU means an EU power cord is included (the retail kit PBT9501-WH-RTK20 comes without a power cord), and versions without a K suffix are the scanner only.
