The Zebra SP72-V is a vertical single-plane on-counter scanner for fast manned and self-service checkouts – a compact, flat-faced 2D imager that stands on the counter or fits into self-checkout enclosures and kiosks. Its 2.3-megapixel sensor with Zebra PRZM Intelligent Imaging captures virtually every 1D, 2D and Digimarc barcode – on paper labels and on phone screens – as quickly as items are swiped past, and the scanner is backed by a 3-year (36-month) Zebra warranty. This version, SP7208-SV00004CSWW, is the premium SP7208 model – multi-interface (USB, RS232, Keyboard Wedge, IBM 46xx) with an AUX port for a handheld scanner, featuring integrated Sensormatic EAS deactivation and a 2.3 MP color camera for vision-based loss prevention, and it is supplied without an interface cable – please order the cable for your POS separately.
📦 What's in the box – SP7208-SV00004CSWW
- Zebra SP7208-V vertical scanner – SP7208: multi-interface + AUX port, Sensormatic EAS, 2.3 MP color camera, Midnight Black
- Color camera cable – Zebra CBL-CC0072 (USB-C) – connects the camera to the PC running your vision application
💡 To get started, you might also consider a USB cable to connect the scanner to your PC or POS system.
🔒 Sensormatic EAS: the scanner connects to your Sensormatic deactivation system through its EAS port (with interlock). No EAS cable is included in the box – the connection is normally set up together with your Sensormatic system provider. Not sure what your installation needs? Contact our team and we will confirm it.
📷 Color camera: the camera has its own USB-C port – connect it with the included CBL-CC0072 cable to the PC or POS that runs your vision or loss-prevention application. The camera delivers images and live video; the analysis is done by that application software.

Key Features
- Swipe and go – swipe speeds of up to 305 cm/s (13 mil UPC) and a large 54° × 35.5° reading area capture barcodes as quickly as they are presented, so cashiers and self-checkout users rarely need to position an item.
- PRZM Intelligent Imaging – a 2.3-megapixel sensor reads virtually any 1D, 2D and Digimarc barcode, on paper or on mobile screens, including poorly printed, damaged, crinkled and faded codes; offset illumination handles reflective barcodes on glass bottles, phones and cellophane.
- Integrated Sensormatic EAS deactivation with interlock – the security tag is deactivated only when the barcode is scanned, which speeds up checkout and eliminates sweethearting and other forms of shrink.
- 2.3 MP color camera for vision-based applications – a wide-angle 129° × 75.9° color camera streams images and live video to loss-prevention applications that detect ticket switching (a cheaper barcode on a more expensive item), and a visible live video stream deters checkout fraud.
- Made for self-checkout – the compact, flat-faced SP72-V (13.7 × 15.2 × 8.4 cm) stands on the counter, can be mounted on a table or wall and fits easily into self-checkout enclosures and kiosks.
- Shrink prevention built in – Non-Decode Event alerts flag items that pass the scanner without a successful scan, and upward-facing good-decode LEDs are visible to attendants and overhead video systems.
- Eye-friendly illumination and custom tones – the recessed deep red LEDs light up only when an item is in the scan zone (adjustable down to off), and the speaker plays a classic beep, melodic tones or your own custom sounds.
- Multi-interface with AUX port – connects via USB, RS232, Keyboard Wedge or IBM 46xx (RS485) with auto-host-detect Zebra cables, and the AUX port lets you add a handheld scanner for large or heavy items (an AUX scanner requires the external 12 V power supply PWR-BGA12V50W0WW with DC line cord CBL-DC-376A1-01).
- Durable and spill-resistant – IP52 sealing against dust and spills, with elevated electronics that keep the scanner safe from accidental spills.
- Zebra DataCapture DNA – set up scanners with 123Scan, convert barcode types with selectable label identifiers, manage them remotely with Scanner Management Service (SMS), stream data with IoT Connector and track scanner health with Remote Diagnostics; 36-month Zebra warranty.
Ideal Applications
- Supermarkets and grocery stores – fast manned checkouts and self-checkout lanes
- Self-checkout kiosks – the flat-face design fits into enclosures, and the EAS and camera options help reduce shrink
- Convenience stores and specialty retail – compact on-counter scanning of paper and mobile barcodes
- Pharmacies and drugstores – reliable reading of small, high-density and Digimarc codes
- Stores using Checkpoint or Sensormatic EAS – barcode scanning and tag deactivation in a single pass

Not sure which version you need? Choose an SP7201-V if a USB connection is all you need, or an SP7208-V for RS232, Keyboard Wedge or IBM connections, the AUX port and the optional color camera. For a new checkout without EAS, the USB kit SP7208-SV4U2100AZW already includes the USB cable; stores that use Checkpoint or Sensormatic security tags should choose the matching EAS version (the Checkpoint versions include the CBL-CE0072 EAS cable).
