Print InPost labels on a thermal label printer (100×150)

InPost labels for Paczkomat® parcel lockers, PaczkoPunkt points and Kurier InPost come as PDF files, or as ZPL/EPL for integrations. Here is which format to pick and how to print it at 100×150 mm on a Zebra, TSC or Honeywell printer.

Before you start

InPost's tools offer a single A6 label ("A6P" in Manager Paczek) and, in some tools, an A4 page. For a thermal printer, choose A6. InPost's integration FAQ gives the label as 100 mm wide and 143 mm high, and its packing rules ask senders of XS parcels to leave room for a 100 × 150 mm label, so 100×150 mm labels fit.

Use matt direct thermal labels (InPost advises against glossy paper); they print without ribbon. In our label titles, "40 g" and "76 g" mean the core diameter in mm. Check core and roll size: a Zebra ZD220 or ZD230 takes rolls up to 127 mm on 12.7 or 25.4 mm cores (38.1 mm with adapters), so our 1,000-label rolls on a 76 mm core need a printer or roll holder made for that core.

Manager Paczek (Parcel Manager) is InPost's web tool for locker and courier parcels. English meanings are in brackets.

1. Log in at manager.paczkomaty.pl.
2. Create the shipment in "Wyślij przesyłki" (Send shipments) and pay with "Opłać, wydrukuj i wyślij" (Pay, print and send). Only paid shipments get a label.
3. The label is created as a PDF. If asked for a format, pick "A6P", not "A4". InPost's instructions for Allegro shipments show this under "Akcje" (Actions) › "Drukuj etykietę" (Print label). No format choice? Ask InPost business support.

Set up the printer for 100×150 mm labels

Load the labels, calibrate, then set the label size once in the driver; otherwise Windows sends an A4 page.

• Zebra (ZD220, ZD230, ZD421, ZD621, ZT231, ZT411): ZDesigner driver › Printing preferences: 100 × 150 mm under Page Setup, printing mode Thermal Direct. Steps: Print 100×150 mm shipping labels on Zebra.
• TSC (DA210, DA220, TE200, TE210, MH241): Printing preferences › Page Setup › Stock › New: 100×150 mm. See Print shipping labels on TSC printers.
• Honeywell (PC42E-T, PC42E-D): label size in the InterDriver printing preferences. See Print shipping labels on the Honeywell PC42E.

On a thermal transfer model, set the print method to direct thermal for these labels. Thermal transfer labels need a ribbon.

Print the PDF at the right size

1. Check the PDF's page size in your PDF reader's document properties.
2. Choose Print and select your label printer; the paper size should show 100×150 mm.
3. If the page is exactly 100×150 mm (4×6 in), print at actual size (100 %). For any other size, such as A6 (105×148 mm), choose "Fit to page" or the program's equivalent (shrink to printable area, scale to fit). Zebra recommends fitting for PDFs.
4. Choose portrait or automatic orientation.
5. Print and scan one test label.

Pale barcode: raise darkness one step or lower the speed. Bars running together: lower darkness.

Print ZPL or EPL labels from an integration

Software using the ShipX API can request the label in the printer's own language. InPost's label download documentation describes these options:

• format: pdf (default), zpl or epl.
• type: normal (returned if you leave the type out) or A6; courier services have no normal and return A6.
• type dpi300: 300 dpi ZPL, only for the services InPost lists. InPost's integration FAQ gives PDF at 200 dpi and ZPL at 200 or 300 dpi.
• Bulk: up to 100 labels per request; mixed services come back as a ZIP, one file per service.

Match the file to the printhead: Zebra notes that a format made for 203 dpi prints about a third smaller on a 300 dpi printer. For a 300 dpi printer, such as our Honeywell PC42E-T, request the dpi300 type where InPost offers it, or use the A6 PDF.

Zebra desktop printers read ZPL II and EPL 2; TSC DA, TE and MH printers emulate them, and the Honeywell PC42E uses ZSim and ESim. InPost documents no print helper app, so your software must send the file straight to the printer. If unsure, use the A6 PDF.

Print from your web shop

InPost lists its own plugins for WooCommerce, Shopify, PrestaShop, Magento 2 and OpenCart and documents an app for WIX.

Attach the label

• Stick the label flat on the top surface, not over the closure, a corner or a fold.
• No tape or printed document pouch over the barcode or address.
• On tubes, stick it along the long side.
• Remove old labels from reused boxes.
